I am venturing into the Black Hole that is my basement, as I have reached the limits of everyone's patience with what I accumulated over the years. Those of us who hoard, I am sure, have a hard time throwing things away, so I will offer most of it on the Give Aways forum for postage only, please. This is a very small bit of ephemera that I *will* dispose of if no one wants it, but I will feel better offering it here first. I will remove the matches (carefully) before mailing. The match covers advertise: 1) Ideal Coffee/Mutual Grade A Coffee 2) Jest Antacids 3) Sparkle Gelatin Dessert 4) Alka-Seltzer 5) The Tower Suite of the Time & Life Building in Rockefeller Center 6) Doublemint Chewing Gum
I just had a thought...these would make PERFECT billboards for an HO layout. Anyone know any train nuts? The Doublemint one looks just like vintage advertising that was displayed on the racks of trolley cars.
How do you "VacPac"?? And then how do you answer the PO question about "Anything liquid, flammable, explosive, etc." ?
FoodSaver vacuum packing system. Schedule a USPS pickup from your home mailbox and you don't have to answer any questions.
With all the illegal drugs in the mail the USPS is gonna freak out on a pack of matches? And really, matches can't be considered explosives as they don't contain "flash powder".
They can be shipped via ground methods, but not by air for whatever reason, and not out of the country. https://www.usps.com/ship/shipping-restrictions.htm Safety matches have treated match heads that will only ignite when struck against a specially prepared surface like a match book, card, or box. Safety matches may be shipped domestically using ground transportation. Safety matches may not be sent by air or mailed internationally.
So sorry to be AWOL! My husband was out of the country for several days and throwing his dog and cat chores (we have way too many pets) on top of my activities kept me very busy. If you still want the matches Rayo56, I will send them via ground transportation if you will message me your address. Thanks!
