I am 90% sure it made of Bronze. Found it in the basement of our old farmhouse. I thought maybe it was an urn it has a handle and nice lion heads carved in it and a face. It is solid.and has some weight to it about 7 or 8lbs. The base is screwed on Im not sure what that is made out of however.
Andrea, you (and Davey!) did a great job of it! I hope you don't mind, but I've lightened the photos a bit to show more detail:
It's an ornamental ewer, part of a fireplace mantle garniture; this came with a matching piece and a clock, most likely. It would have been used for decoration on a fireplace. Beyond that...dunno.
Oh wow! I havent come across another or any clocks. Im glad I know what it is. We just keep it on a shelf with our knick knacks
The center one might be a vase too, or some sort of covered urn/whatsit that looks like it ought to contain Great Aunt Flossie's ashes. They were just ornamental. The other bits may never have been in the house, if you had any junkers in the family.
Many of these are plated spelter. Yours may be also, the color is different from most bronze patinations.
