Does anyone have any information or the value on this? Someone had thrown it out. It looked old so I grabbed it. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Late-Victorian chaise lounge. Excellent curbside find.

An internet search for "Eastlake" and "chaise lounge" will bring up similar examples. Upholstery makes all the difference on a piece like this.

Debora, so would the investment of getting this reupholstered be worth it? I imagine it would be costly to get it done. What is an estimated value on a piece like this?

Sorry, know nothing of values. But for some reason, upholstering is a luxury these days. Only "worth it" if a piece you love or value and intend to live with. And then only if you find a well-trained craftsman to do and invest in quality fabric to compliment the piece. (Personal opinion.)

    Hi,
I had a wonderful upholster when I lived in South Plainfield. He was getting up in age and was going to retire. I had him do six pieces for me before he retired. I really miss him, he was an artist. I guess now I'll have to toss the furniture and buy new. My favorite piece was a chaise lounge 1887 which was stuffed with swans down. When I bought it used in 1960 I paid 225 dollars to have it covered with a pale gray silk, then in 1977 had it covered in turquoise (what was I thinking). In 1985 had it covered in black silk moire (cost 1 grand) then in 2005 covered in off white silk. I paid 35 dollars for the piece originally. Paid 3 grand for having it recovered. Estimated value now about 400 dollars. Would i sell it NEVER.

You know, sometimes a professional cleaning can really make a difference. Thats not a bad color, and looks relatively okay except for a few stains. Get it cleaned, then see if you cant live with it. I echo everyone else about the cost of reupholstering, its prohibitive. Although you can see if your local community colleges offer a course in it,sometimes they will do it dirt cheap for the practice. Its a lovely piece,Id have drug it home too.

Does look like it could be cleaned or... a judiciously placed pillow?

I'd say have it cleaned and see what happens. That's a nice hunk of wood. The style is out with a capital O around here, but for free...score!

Eastlake walnut circa 1890. Good curbside find but not terribly valuable in this condition. Original upholstery was probably tufted. Re-doing this in the same manner it was done last would not be that hard to do yourself. Otherwise, find a throw you like and throw it!
