Featured help with silver teaspoons set

anyone know if these type of spoons have a particular design type, or is it just a random decorative handle

cant seem to find ones similar

seems to date to 1956

measures 3 3/4 inches each

any thoughts appreciated

Geez, that's one heck of a maker's mark to read.

And what letter do you think that is for the date, Charlie. I see it as an O, but that's not a match to the Birmingham letter list for the year 1956.

The upper end of the range that has been "seen" by the site owner is 1946

 

So, if the letter is an O, there are 2 choices for this cartouche type - 1913 and 1938. I would personally go with 1938.

Oh! And - at 3 and 3/4 inches long I think they are a bit short for demitasse. But the bowls are too large for individual salts IMHO.

Where did you see a "1956 O" for Birmingham? What source?

 

Just realised I was looking at the symbol before the date, rather than after, doh !

Not that we Devonians are backwards or anything

 

It looks like the 1938 O to me & handle decoration is deco.

So, this set of enamel demitasse spoons turned up in an eBay email this morning, they're Birmingham, 1936, William Hair Haseler - and interestingly, the seller also had a set without enamel said to be by Gorham (they only mention '1930s', no specific year, so probably American, but Gorham did have a Birmingham workshop at that time):
