Evening. I was wondering if anyone knows something about what I think is a knock off Ronson table lighter. I could only find a picture of similar crown lighter on the internet made by a company Ronson but this lighter says Japan on the bottom so I'm assuming it's a knock off. Any info is appreciated. I don't think it would have a very high value.

Japan copied all kinds of things that were popular.

I would guess this to be a 1960s tabletop lighter Made in Japan, in the style of Ronson.

Thanks. That is what I thought. They just changed the crown style a bit I guess. So you think about 1960's? It's a nice little conversion item anyway.

    Yes, probably mid 60s.
Mid to late 60's is when the link to cancer came out with surgeon general's warning.
Prior to that smoking was a social thing. Cigarette accessories on coffee tables. Fancy ashtrays, lighters.

Lots of lighter collectors. Although Japanese lighters don't tend to be as expensive as others.
