Can you please show the back?

  9. The back of the frame is just blank, and looks hand rigged with framing nails.
Working on exposing the canvas now

  10. Well crap says I’m at my storage limit for albums and I don’t know any other way to post more photos....
So, the whole thing is held in place in the back with framing nails and it looks like it’s not canvas at all, it like a thin wood that’s been painted? So what I thought was a framing covering in the back is what the painting is actually on. Like a board? And that’s what the painting is actually painted on; the thin board.

  11. I guess he did a LOT of paintings on boards, so this is good? His bio says he has art in the Vatican Museum and stuff so this could be my first decent art find in an estate lot.

So no handwritten notations, stickers or labels? Just blank board?

He's a fairly minor regional painter. Just glanced quickly at a Madrid auction house catalog and his urban scenes are on offer for 250€. What is the measurement of your painting? Is it 83cm x 60cm?

Well, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be what it appears to be. Too bad you can't identify the locale. (It's fairly generic.) That would add to value, assuming collector interest.

  19. I’ll measure it now. 40cm x 33cm roughly?
I would take 250 euros lol.... we only paid like 400 for the entire lot and already made that back plus a ton in Fenton Glass alone. Really appreciate the help y’all are great! I know nothing about paintings, just trying to sort through them all.
