    I vote for one of the countries that used the loth system, but beyond that D, I can't read the name either.

    I think there's two Es. I'm seeing mostly 'Drewes'.

    Looks like Drewer.
    There is a small neighbourhood in the German town of Marl called Drewer. Maybe it is a German maker by the name of Drewer, and the silver fineness is 12 loth as Bakers suggested. 12 loth is .750.

    Looks like 'Drewes' to me, Theo's 'silberpunze' site shows two similar, though one is not very clear...

    Georg Drewes, c. 1820, Hanover - son of Hans Drewes of Bremen, apprenticed with his father, also noted as working in Stuttgart (from what can be seen, looks pretty close to me):

    Thank you Cheryl. I had seen the name but no images of marks. The D and S and cartouche look quite similar.
