This was in a grab bag of mixed jewelry. Exterior is silver, marked 925.

Color in good light is a bit more of a yellow than orange.

Figured the photo of the back would be a clue. Kind of bumpy.

Just not my area of expertise. Real of faux? Thanks!

No black light in the house. I used to have one in the 70's, no idea what happened to it.

It looks legit to me, but it's hard to tell from a photo.

Here are a few more photos. Kind of joking about the black light --I did have one in the 70's but I've moved a zillion times since then so long gone. My daughter says they sell black light bulbs at the grocery store. Might pick one up. Here are a few more regular light photos if helpful. amber4.jpg amber5.jpg amber7.jpg

Lucille, I think you will need a fluorescent tube light or flashlight rather than the light bulb. Those small flashlights work well and handy to have in your purse.

Opal was the one you had to look out for.
She shimmered with different angles and had a lot of fire.

I wondered if a bulb would work. Will hold off and get a more useful device. Thanks!

It's reconstituted amber - that back is the clue, as is the sort of bubble effect in it . Very recent. Nothing wrong with it, it simply isn't one original lump.

UV light will show the blue veil properly on both original amber and reconstituted, even the dyed stuff. I've a pendant which is an absolutely vicious green, bought in Russia.

In other words she was a health nut and probably a teetotaler, so you wouldn't have had any fun with her.

I think this is probably what it is. Just looked up others advertised as reconstituted and seems to have sort of a rough back. A bit different than this one, but not totally smooth so similar in that regard. Thanks!
