Looking for any information on this hutch. My parents bought it at an antique store around 1984. I've had it for several years but my wife doesn't want it in our kitchen anymore. I'm thinking of refinishing it or painting it.

Just my opinion, but from the look of it I wouldnt say it was much older than that when your folks bought it. I think its a very nice piece, not too big,and very well made. Maybe if you painted it (wich I wouldnt, but taste is individual) your wife might like it again. You could move it to another room, theres no law that says it HAS to stay in the kitchen! :)

Agree, modern piece that seems solid and reasonably well made. Would be more fashionable painted right now but that is not something so easily undone and fashions change. Since it is not an antique, would not be the worse thing that could happen.

I agree with verybrad, not the worst. If you paint the inside of it a few shades darker than the shelves and outside... it will add depth to the shelves and give it a nice look. Here's my built-in with taupe inside and white outside.(sorry about pic quality) IMG_1186.JPG

See, we'd call that a Welsh Dresser.

I'd paint the inside too; painting something this new isn't a crime, and putting a different color inside would break up the wall to wall wood look. Besides, the insides of the real antique hutch/dressers often were painted.
