    Hi,

Thanks for checking my post. I have wanted to know the artist who created my Oregon Myrtlewood painting. It appears to be signed "Sharu" but I'm not sure. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I read that name as Sharl, not Sharu.

    And welcome, Nik!

    Welcome Nik.
I think it is Sharl. too, with a dot after Sharl.

Hi and WELCOME, Nik!!! WOW!!! That's nice.....is that scene painted or burned into the wood??? Other than an awful lot of urethane or varnish on the piece, it's gorgeous!!! Love the simplicity.....

Thanks for the help! I could not tell if it was "sharu" "Sharl" or if that last letter could be something else. I have tried researching both possibilities and have not found anything yet! Thanks

I think it might be close to impossible to get an ID on just who the "artist" was. This is tourist souvenir work, the kind of thing sold in "gift shops" and hung in motel rooms along the coast for years. A nice piece of wood, but not exactly "great art" IMHO. The reference to "Holy Lands" is strange - since Oregon and the Middle East are so far apart - but does sound to me like this could have been done a few decades ago - like the 80's?

Don't start a new thread for the same item because it gets confusing. I answered this on the other thread.
