Since this is from the Rotary "Illusion" Series, I'm assuming the couple's bodies are supposed to be missing?!

Fascinating image. Did you notice the cut timber on the upper deck? Africa somewhere but where? (Someone more knowledgeable than me about the continent will be able to identify the woven hat in the middleground.)

No, I didn't notice the timber... there's so much to see, it's a real slice of life. Seems to be some kind of cargo-come-passenger ship? There's a police/military person on the left. A pity it's so faded, I might have to play with the contrast to see if I can get more detail.

I get a north African vibe from this, plus some place with English influence. The "shawl type" (there must be a better term to use) wraps on a few of the men on the left (with their backs to us,) the head coverings (especially the fellow with the sort of conical hat) and, for the English influence the boater hat on the middle boy and the striped jacket on the left one.

 

@KingofThings ....Not sure what your "yes" meant, so went ahead and cleaned the postcard up a bit.....keep it or chuck it ....feelings won't be hurt.....bitter cold and windy out and am NOT about to GO out.....and NOT about to do something so mundane as dust or vacuum when I can play.....

JUST in case anyone is interested, Lilian Harvey's pose is called "the Debutante Slouch", the fashionable female silhouette for the 1920s

And she's wearing a robe de style, a dress style interpreted for the 1920s by French designer Jeanne Lanvin. It has been called the "anti-flapper" look.
