Featured Antique diamond brooch

I think this brooch belonged to my Gt Grandmother . Could anyone tell me where I'd look to find a mark or stamp on it please ?

 

it may have a very small mark of the inside...or the pin..

It may have no marks, that was quite common with small Victorian pieces.

 

You could also check the sides of the C-clasp.
It is a beauty.

It is, crescent moons were very popular in the 19th century. They were considered connected with the ancient moon Goddesses and therefore a symbol of femininity and women's strength.

That’s a beautiful heirloom. Your question about where to look for a mark can’t be specified with any certainty. I would say firstly it needs to be cleaned well. I say this because the safety pin is discolored as if an acid tested. Use a soft toothbrush with cleaner. This will enable you to look for the mark if there is one much easier. You need a good loupe. Good luck. I had the misfortune of a bad roommate in my 20’s and some of my heirlooms mysteriously disappeared. Treasure it. I think it would look great as a pendant. A good jeweler could add a folding ring to the back and make the safety pin detachable and reattached when desired. Or, If it were mine I might think about a recreation of a pendant with both the pin and safety sitting East to west or north to south with the crescent attached. That could still be worn as a pin.

I love adding Antique pins to my pearl or gold bead necklaces. Some come with attachments already there.

 

Good thing my breasts are not that high! The Plastic clear earring Posts with metal in them Will sometimes fit on the end of pin for necessary protection
