Davey - that lady with the blue face used to drive me mad. She was everywhere! And for a while, there were paintings on velvet. And famous paintings made into jigsaw puzzles and framed. And spice racks. In the 80's nobody could give away those Dorothy Thorpe glasses; now look. :)

So why can't you sell a cornflower Corning teapot on ebay?

Messi: Thanks for the additional info. I honestly had no idea the painting was so well thought of! (In my head, it's right up there with Elvis on velvet.)

Actually, it is, I believe, the coffee pot that can't be sold on eBay. I think it had something to do with the heating element that caused the thing to break. Well, blow apart, really...

MessI: LOL! That DID seem out of context! When I read your first reference, there was a mention that the painting had appeared in Hitchcock's, "Frenzy."

It's a movie that is definitely one of his lesser known works, but it is one of his most realistic. Takes place partly in Covent Garden...lots of cheerful color, pleasantly demeanored people...and the dark presence of a devious sociopath.

Duh. The girl in the potatoes is in the movie.

    I'll get organized eventually...

I think it had something to do with the metal ring around the top that housed the handle and it breaking? I dunno...some are still sold, guess they are not turned in. Like Silver said, it may be the coffeepot...don't remember.

Yes! Seeing both of those at live auctions now...guess eBay prices have dropped for those unless they are very rare/desired.

Silverplated serving pieces from the 50s. "Oh sorry, there's no jewelry". Overpriced sterling, when there is any. Souvenir glasses from casinos. Those lucite box frames with the cardboard box inserts. Mismatched glasses. Old 70s patio furniture. Bad 80s parquet look end tables. The list goes on.

I forgot about all the Elvis lamps, puzzles, etc. at just about every estate, yard and flea. There is a Charlie Brown's a few miles from me that sell everything from Beatles to Monroe movie junk. The highway is the main route to Vegas and folks stop there to buy souveniers. One of my Granddaughters gave me an Elvis lamp to hold for her. YUCK!

What, no lava lamps? We forgot the hand embroidered pillows done in the 70s. In orange and green. Bad amateur wall art turns up too.

You forgot the books, worth nothing except as shelf filler. Lots of them. Fake wood paneling in the "finished' basement.
