Featured Maker of pearl & garnet necklace?

Google "fish hook clasp" and look at images.That design clasp is still being made and sold.

 

Now that you have cleaned the black stuff, I would love to wear the necklace with my red and gold Indonesian kain-kebaya (traditional dress).

I'm still on the fence about this being a marriage....I really don't think it is. The findings on all ends are exactly the same, and I just don't think that if someone cut a pearl necklace they would add the same findings near the clasp end.....but again I digress to the experts as I just don't have much knowledge. Anyway, regardless if it is, or isn't I agree it's lovely. I think I will just list it with stating that it's possibly a marriage, and leave it at that. I think the blackened areas are from use, as they do brighten back to gold when attempting to clean them.
Am I correct in calling the pearls Akoya? They are about 5mm and they are real.
I have no clue how to price it, so was just thinking maybe start it at around $200., with a 7 day auction. It weighs a little over 17 grams, but of course I don't know the actual gold weight. What do you think? Also, not knowing the grade of the garnets, I just don't know....?

LOL @ Any jewelry! Sounds like a beautiful pairing though!! I did give it another cleaning, but with that black area being right next to the pearls, I am unable to give it a good cleaning like I'd like to, in fear of ruining the pearls, so it only looks a little better than it did before.

Listen Tye.....it is by all accounts...really special.....& while it may not be for everyone....( like swine....) , U have to list it at the lowest amount you're willing to let it go for....then....anything above that is gravy !!
No one is going to buy this for melt weight....it's too damn pretty !!!

The company who made the clasp in this case didn't make the whole necklace, best guess. Those are made in bulk and sold that way too. The whole thing looks original to me too.

 

Believe the fish hook clasp first appeared in the 1930s, and like Holly said are still being made today.

Tye, I checked my Moms pearl necklace....just for the heck of it......same gold tone wire wraps as yours.....no bout a doubt it !!!!

Komokwa I took it by a jeweler to check if the garnets were real and they are, but she also believes that it's not a marriage and most likely made this way.

Another thought on the pearls, could they have been two bracelets, hence the winding on all ends?
Whatever they once were, they make a beautiful necklace now.
