I always grab textiles that I've never seen before, like this one. I haven't unfolded the whole thing yet, I feel it's about 20' long. The fabric feels like wool, mohair, or something else.
Anyone ever see textile like this ? 042.JPG 043.JPG 045.JPG

Its the type of fabric used extensively by Chanel and Ungaro (for classic off the rack and bespoke lines, not runway spectaculars............)

May be Irish. Do a burn test on a thread, see what it's made of.

Smell generally. Burnt wool is unmistakable as is melting synthetic.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Yes, it would be best to cut a little piece away and burn just that.

normally when you burn synthetic fibers they end up like a little hard ball......natural fibers , after burning....you can crush them with light finger pressure and they look like cigarette ash.......
it's what i see in your pic......

You see synthetic or natural ? I'll burn again and try to smash

well the balled up one looks synthetic......the long one looks natural......
not unheard of to have a synthetic warp with a natural weft....
