The thing is, most sellers don't have a clue and just throw terms around. For this to be Mamluk, it would have to be at least 500 years old, which it isn't, of course.;)
For most sellers it would be better if they just stuck to a possible region of origin, instead of trying to name the style or technique.

That is certainly the case. Mamluk inspired not Mamluk created is how I’ve described it.

I have no reason to believe it is Mamluk inspired though. Best not mention Mamluk at all.

I was thinking it should have something attached. I still have a jar full of beads from a lamp that was junk when I got it. I saved all the beads. Decades later, I still have them.

That does look amazing but beads would cover up some of the design. It’s a very short lamp. I love it the way it is for now and have it by my bedside.
I really like that camel lamp and the beadwork though!

edit: also I think the shade was part of a hanging lamp/lantern which should explain why it appears upside down. Took me a bit to put two and two together

I think the beads would only hang low enough to cover the lightbulb holder.

    Good point.
Edit: I had forgotten what my own lamp looked like when I wrote that
