Bought this guy about a month ago at an estate sale we were doing..

I'll never wear it but it was only $4 and I'd be jealous if anyone else bought it.
    I'm terrible, I know..

Anyways, it's backing is a ballou which I looked up and is post 1955.
Could be original, but Im thinking the horse is possibly older.
    What do yall think?

Late 50s, and begging for some silver polish from the look of him. Your Little Pony deserves to be shinier; it's that or paint him pink and purple like those kiddie ones my niece likes.

    Agree, polish it.
You might find a mark on it.

Wow, that is a find. I'd have bought him, too. If you clean him up, please post another pic. Great Find!!!

Did or does Ballou make findings or fasteners for sterling? I have only seen their stuff on brass pieces.

Something that small? Your fingers. Rub him like a worry stone and wash your hands afterward. Just avoid the sticker thing on the back.

I use a simple rubber eraser for all my old metal pieces. It was a trick an old jeweler taught me and it has served me well. It is a gentle way to remove dirt without hurting the piece. Good luck.....and I'd love to see it when cleaned up!!!

Please let us know if it is silver or not.

It looks much like painted lead or painted white metal or painted pewter so it's hard to tell if it's actually silver but I suspect not. Thanks
