OH Thank you....one of the few of my inherited treasures I afforded to keep. Hand made, great "roughness" on the back to show the hand work of the Natives....One of my treasures!!

 

That might be a sand cast piece, if it's a little rough. If so....score! It might even be genuine old pawn - something your parents/grandparents bought from a pawn shop after the original owner couldn't pay off the loan against it. It sounds like it's definitely old regardless of whether your parents got a pawn ticket with it.

 

if it's a treasured item.....show it off one day....with pics of the back too.

 

Some of us don't go to the Finds thread. Too long and cumbersome.

 

So....suggest where she should post her finds , that some of you 'will' see !!

 

I'm not saying don't post in finds, just that if she wants help, then asking on the appropriate board might be better.

Go back and read it and you'll see I made the same point.

Thank you. to you all...I am still a bit confused as to how to share my fav's and get ID's. I have a lot of modern stuff and I'm not sure anyone here knows about that stuff. My entire collection comes from my aunt and uncle. He first curated Modern Art Museum in Los Angeles, circa 1946. Then moved around the country. He had a passion for the ancient stuff. Attended digs down in the Yucutan in the 50s, when International travel was very limited. It was when he was at the digs that my auntie would meander over to Taxco. She had some amazing pieces from there. The story of my squash necklace is told that when they lived in Colorado Springs when my uncle was Director at Colorado Springs Institute of Art, circa 1952-57. On their days off they would travel around and go to the local reservations. My uncle being a curator of museums had a special love of old silver jewelry, particularly made by the locals. So, this Squash was a piece she picked up back then. She had SO many of them, but most I had to sell off. This one I kept. It feels old and comfortable. I may just post stuff on my own account for a while, to get used to uploading and getting sizes and such, correct. Again, I sincerely thank you for your support and help. I apologize in advance for all the mistakes I am sure I will make and I look forward to posting treasures and seeing your treasures as well.

 

You surely know stuff we don't so don't sweat that.

We're all just folks like you , some older some younger, some taller some shorter, some smarter some brain dead.........don't be intimidated by us !

 

We're just weird people who like old stuff, and old people who like weird stuff. As for me, I am decidedly middle-aged and weird.
