Nice shelf, King. I love the silver, Brad. Woo Hoo on the cat!!!

I just went for a walk on the boardwalk today before the rain came in. There was an estate sale we happened upon, a lot of old furniture, it appears the lady came from Germany... I was surprised how much was still there at half price. I just got a couple of silk scarves for a dollar each.... I pick them up when I see them cheap. I bet she had some jewelry, but the people running the show probably got it.

I got this at the last indoor antique show I went to, there is a date of 1978 in it, can't identify the artist. I am picking up old turquoise when I see it cheap, too.

This Van Dell gold-filled cameo set was $9 in an antique mall

I found this bracelet in a thrift shop, newer, can't identify the maker

Then there was this heavy sterling bracelet marked JCM and Italy for $2

And this sterling vermeil onxy necklace for $4

Someone cared about that ring; they dremeled some insurance info into it. If the bracelet were real metal I'd be looking at Church's. This however is relatively modern costume, so I haven't a clue.

As for today's finds, I'll have to get them photographed such as they were. I did score a satin utility jacket that I'm pretty sure was police issue a long time ago. It says Made in USA.

Evelyb, what insurance information? I tried googling the EFN part, I couldn't figure it out. I don't know much about turquoise, the the 1978 date made me pick it up for $25 because I have read the older mines in the USA are being mined out.....even the newer ones, too. I hope you had a Happy Birthday. Celebrate all week! I looked at Peter Johnson... not sure, but thanks.

I bet there are more gems to be found but it's harder to look for them now and maybe people are too lazy to hike, live hard, dig and swing a pick.

The EFN and number was probably added to identify it for insurance (and possibly inventory) purposes. 90% of the metal ware (silver, jewellery, some bronzes, etc.) I have inherited had numbers scratched into them.

I have a bird theme going... except a flightless one today - 4 bucks for this beautiful glass penguin (quite large - about 15" high)

That's what I thought too. I've also found them scratched into plated objects not worth the time of day.
