I am brand new to this and other than ebay chat boards from twenty years ago, I have not used online groups, so I am excited to be schooled on the proper online etiquette of the group and to "Meet" other antique lovers.
My love of old things goes back to my early childhood. I would always be drawn to the antiques in a home and want to touch and dream of their history. I can clearly remember asking my mom, "who was the girl who owned this last? Did she serve berries to her boyfriend with it?" in response to finding out a beautiful green EAPG set was for serving berries and cream. I was 8.
Most recently my focus has been on jewelry having inherited boxes and boxes of sterling pieces, many from Early Taxco, some from the reservations of Arizona in the 50s and much of it just tourist pieces from Mexico and Arizona. But there are the odd pieces I still pull out that are beautiful and in need of an ID.
It should be mentioned that the same aunt that I inherited the boxes, also sold Claire Falkenstein and Harry Bertoia pieces in her gallery in the late 40s, so that gives you an idea of the kind of stuff I might be finding. Sadly, most of the gems have long been sold off, but I am still opening boxes and finding more unique items all the time. I hope I can bring something to the group, if not in knowledge, at least in enthusiasm and a true love of vintage jewelry.
My husband and I are raising special need kids. At 61 and 57 yrs of age, it is a loving but sometimes exhausting task. So< I will be sporadic in my attendance. Again, I will look for instruction as to the proper etiquette for asking questions, and "being here" to help and receive help.
My name is Susan B Lucky (really : ) and I hope to meet many of you soon

Hi Susan I don't think you have to worry about learning proper etiquette because you're already doing a good job. I'm not much into antique jewelry (rather pre 1800s books) but you'll find plenty of people who are (good thing everyone isn't like me), as I replied to someone else today "If you have a question just ask!!"

Thank you to you all. I am not sure where to go to get help with ID's but here is an old piece, marked only 800 PE which I have looked up and can only find reference to A City in Italy and the 800 refers to the kind of sterling. IF anyone knows more, PLEASE feel free to post ideas....and if this is not the way to ask, let me know! TIA

Love your quote about coffee, HELLO! We must be from the same tribe: ) and I'd love to post a bunch of my "finds". Is there a place where I can put together a photo set? Is that something we can all do as members? I really need to get on here and spend a few hours looking around. I am like a bad kids, sneaking over here when I should be working! : ) I run 2 online businesses and if I don't work, we don't eat!

We have a Finds thread ..for items you just picked up and want to show off.
For things you wish to know more about...pick a catagory and start a new thread with your opening post.
One item at a time usually gets the best results ...
Clear crisp photo's , under 1MB...front and back...top and bottom......and wait for members to weigh in...

Oh you're too kind and sadly, I am amazed at how little I know considering the experience and number of pieces I have handled and own. I should be far more knowledgeable. : ) But I'm chatty so I'm always good for a few cents worth! Which is often the value of what I've got to offer : )
