This is bezel-set in a bracelet marked 950, with no other markings, probably from Mexico. Would love to know what the "stone" is called and how it was made.
Hope the photo uploads OK; this is my first try.

The 950 of course being a mark for good silver. I've heard this glass called "Dichroic", but wait for others to confirm.

    Very pretty piece!

I would call it fused glass rather then dichroic. To me dichroic means that it changes color. But that's just my understanding. I could be wrong!

I don't know where it's from....but 950 is a French standard.....& the 925-1000 site does not list this purity as coming from Mexico......

    So...take that for what it's worth........2 cents ?? Hehehe!!!!!

A lot of higher quality recent Mexican and Israeli jewelry is .950. I have some of it here, come to think. That bracelet has Mexican written all over it. The glass I'd call either dichroic or fused or both, because it really is both.

Thanks, everyone, for your help so far!
The dotted layer (for want of a better term) seems to be above the multicolored foil type layer. If it is dichroic, would it be a newer, rather than an older, piece? Not that it matters; I am just curious, and just starting to learn.

OK...but don't the Mexicans and Israelis still put Mexico & Israel..on their silver work ??......for the most part ??

Definitely dichroic. I'd agree on Mexico, too. Lovely thing.

Oh, and dichroic glass has been around for a couple of thousand years. But I think your piece is the past couple of decades.

Not always. Usually, but not always. The design could be American Southwestern too or (as I call it) Parking Lot Deadhead, but I've never seen any in .950 silver.
