That's one of Coro's higher priced lines, generally called Coro Pegasus. It's probably 1960s and looks to be in really good shape.

  4. Yes it is in very excellent shape. My next question is what is that chain for i have got to ask. Im only 24 so it seems very odd but i have noticed that behind almost everything theres a story or explination behind it :)

The chain on the bracelet is a safety chain. It's there so if the clasp comes undone the bracelet doesn't fall off. It means the manufacturer thought the bracelet was worth protecting.

You should hang on to it! You might find yourself wearing it, if not now, maybe years from now. :)

  7. This is one piece im keeping. Im going to have to sell some of the jewelry just to pay her rent along with her old porcelain doll collection but so hard to know the right prices and that never equals the sentimental value of the piece :(

Since you are using it to help with your Aunt's rent, might be a good idea to post any jewelry in question on this site prior to selling. There are many jewelry experts here and can help spot items that are might be more valuable. Depending on how much your Aunt has, you might be able to get away with taking a group photo of several items at once. Maybe up to 5 or more if you can get a clear shot or everything front and back. Then if something stands out you might be asked to provide more photos of that piece. Always be on the lookout for signatures like the "Coro" or other words, numbers, etc. written near clasps, etc.

The Dolls can be posted if old under "Antiques".

Best of luck, and kind of you to help your Aunt.

  9. My grandma died the second of January, it was her cousin so it was my great cousin i think lol she had a little jewelry o
Box of hers im assuming from when she passed away. Im the only one trying to clean out grandmas house and she was 91 and a hoarder on top. We sorted through tons of papers from 1980 and up and seen many cards my dad made my grandma. We were taking care of her when she passed and everyone else thinks its best to get what they want leave the junk for someone else to clean up. It just don't feel right doing that. Im not sure how old the dolls are but i will post them when i go get them later today!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Tiffany, your grandmother's cousin would be called your first cousin, twice removed. The "twice removed" means that she was a first cousin two generations back (because your grandma was two generations before you.)

If she had been your grandma's sister, then she would be your great aunt.

I hope this isn't confusing. And also wanted to say that I'm sorry for the loss of your grandmother -- and of her cousin.

And I love the bracelet, by the way. I rather like many of Coro's jewelry pieces.

gold is a soft metal.....you can leave a mark in it with a bite.
old timers would bite down on a coin to make sure it wasn't fake...the way olympic athletes do today to honor this old tradition...

    funny that....here's what i'm reading now....by co-inkydink....

Israel on Wednesday unveiled the largest collection of medieval gold coins ever found in the country, accidentally discovered by amateur divers and dating back about a thousand years.

The find was made two weeks ago near the Israeli port city of Caesarea and consists of some 2,000 coins, weighing about 6 kilograms (13 pounds), the Israel Antiquities Authority said.

Robert Kool, the Israel Antiquities Authority’s curator of coins, said the find was in excellent condition. The coins did not require any cleaning or conservation despite having been at the bottom of the sea for about a millennium.

“Gold is a noble metal and is not affected by air or water,” he said. “Several of the coins that were found in the assemblage were bent and exhibit teeth and bite marks, evidence they were ‘physically’ inspected by their owners or the merchants.”

The earliest coin exposed in the treasure was a quarter dinar minted in Palermo, Sicily, in the second half of the 9th century.

    So...folks bin bitin gold coins.......or any gold...4 a loooong time !!!!

Olympic gold metals have been made of sterling since 1912.
