This was on sale at my local flea-market for months, and when I bought it, the lady slashed the price by over 1/3. She must've really wanted to get rid of it!!

It needs a bit of cleaning done to the silver, but is otherwise in amazing condition. Hallmarks are Birmingham, for 1922!

I hasten to add that the spoons did not come with the set. They were a marriage from my own silver collection.

I've seen a LOT of silver cruet-sets over the years, but they're almost always those bulbous, round, clawfoot Victorian-style ones. Y'know. Like this:

I think this is the first one I've seen which wasn't of that style. And I love it! :p

Pretty breakfast cruet/condiment set, not Art Deco, but classic octagonal Queen Anne/George I design...

The maker's mark is a shield with "JBC & S Ld" for J.B. Chatterley & Sons Ltd. One of tHe hallmarks is a thistle for Edinburgh. According to the following site, this mark was registered or seen on pieces dating from 1960 1979. No doubt they are dead wrong or typos.

This page has their mark in Birmingham dated to 1925.

    Here is silver by Chatterley:

I should have added to my previous reply that the mark I was looking at was the shaker. The marks on the piece on our left also has the thistle for Edinburgh, different date code letter and the same shield maker's mark for J.B. Chatterley. Can't see the hallmarks on the piece on the far right. The salt or mustard spoon on the left has a Sheffield hallmark with a maker's mark of F & W - possibly Ferguson & MacBean.

That was what drew me to it. Most cruet/condiment sets I see are very complicated and over-decorated. This one had simple clean lines, minimal decorations and sharp angles. So different from all the others I've seen.
