Is this a old repo? Do you know approximately the age? It's a nice picture I want to hang it on the wall but afraid it will fall?

It looks like a print to me... you said a pencil drawing, and it may be tinted?

It might be fairly old but I can't really tell. Maybe others can advise on that...

Need a really sharp, clear, very close close up ti hazard a guess on what type of picture or print it might be.

I can't see a problem with hanging it. You probably want the hanger to go into a stud. I wouldn't trust a hanger that only went into plasterboard.

Apparently people thought highly of Gainesborough prints because they always seem to be well-framed. This is one I picked up decades ago, mostly because I loved the frame.

    Nice frame.

Not sure why people are always afraid of hanging things. I can't imagine it is that heavy. If it is, find a stud and there should be no problem. Otherwise, use hollow wall anchors and attach at two points. There are also many tutorials on the web.

We have 1870 horsehair plaster that I'd rather not try to replace. We have a good studfinder that gets very confused by lath & plaster, but we managed to find some studs. Once hung, nothing ever moves in this house, though!
