    DSCN9542.JPG DSCN9543.JPG Hi All

I saw this painting hanging on one's abandoned apartment apparently used as a cover for a window probably...it seems to have had an elaborate frame...I tried to take a PIC of it zooming from the ground..Underneath this top floor apartment there is a restaurant or cafe of some kind....quite weird...does the painting and its style seem familiar for any of you? I couldn't get similar images...If it is an important piece I intend to notify the responsible local authorities to check on the situation as it is exposed to the elements...
    Thanks!

To see how strange it is here is the uncropped image of the painting I took from the street..

Even cleaning it up a bit, it still looks like a painter's dust sheet.

To me, it's Saint George and the Dragon. Must admit I'm having a problem with the dragon, but I see a man with a spear on a horse.

The first thing it made me think of was Ethiopian magic scrolls.

That is a good point I.e.
St George and Dragon drawn in an abstract way...but the framing and style is European and furthermore StGeorge and Dragon is a religeous subject matter and might not be drawn in abstract way by folks in Ethiopia..I took the pic in one European city...

I have an update on this thread ....
I went back today to the place and checked the establishment underneath ...what I thought to be a cafe turned out to be an antique frame designer shop ! No sign at the door...amazingly I was told it is a very old ( more than a century) frame designers family shop... I raised the question about the strange phenomenon upstairs regarding the painting in an open air museum mode..:)...They told me the upstairs floor belongs to them as well and they are on the process of renovating it.And regarding the picture , they said they put it there following a deal (or a bet..)with an artist to make him a frame for his painting that he claimed would withstand the elements.. The painting on hardboard has been there for few years I was told as part of the bet or deal if I understood the explanation correctly.. I was also informed they had a sign at the door before it got broke...So mystery is solved I guess...:)

I would have expected a sunny, Southern locale for it to be this condition outdoors. Must have used house paint.
