Found this at a recycle center and for $8 I couldn't resist. I had previously seen fancy pinched glass decanters covered in silver but never a cheap Indian brass one. Don't think it's terribly old but I love its quirkyness with its integral cup.

They don't seem to sell as well as they look.

You can get the coins out in pretty good condition with acetone. Cut as close as possible with a saw and then soak the pieces in acetone til it turns whitish. You can then pick the remainder off with your fingernails.

I plan to keep it intact as a paperweight. Looking at completed listings on eBay the 1964 ones seem to sell in the $20-25 range which is considerably more than their silver content. Local coin dealer was asking $40 for one that was similar which is crazy money IMO but he got someone to buy it for his asking price.

    I got mine for $15.

OMG- my favorite is the top ring. I do love the bottom ring, let us know what it is... sterling, gold, diamonds, rock crystyal, etc. Congratulations! I love community sales, that's where I got my biggest score ever.

Not much happening.... I have a conflict next weekend, church sale or antique show... probably the antique show. Last time there, I found so many mistakes it was ridiculous. Bought 'em up. I did have a person call me today.... a mutual friend put us in touch, she wants me to look at her mother's jewelry, we are meeting next Sunday.

I was bored so I went to a local antique mall. No big bargains, but this was okay for $6- Crown Trifari 1940s? marlin, needs some work, $6. I cannot locate a design patent for this.

I liked this Pegasus brooch, no markings, the I am working on the small black spot on the silver wing, it was much larger

Are you sure the "aquamarine" ring was treated? In the photo it looks greenish which could make it an untreated aqua.

I actually said it was made before they heat treated them. I can't stand heat treated or irradiated stones for the most part.

Nothing for me today. Bear's quartz looks like classic 70s jewelry. I've seem them mostly with multicolored stones but the clear is nicer.

The two modern rings I posted earlier went off to the scrapper this afternoon. Spent $20 on the bag of jewery, and got about $120 for the pair. Small diamonds aren't worth much these days for resale, but the offering plate at church is going to collect $50 of that. Not bad, eh? The filigree ring is platinum and the rock is just under half a carat. That one isn't going anywhere.

I've had the coloured ones too - and yes, very hippy 70s. I agree, this one is much nicer. All of three dollars. ;)
