I am trying to find the approximate age of this Pin. Was there a time frame this sort of clasp was made? Any info is much appreciated! It is 1 3/4" wing to wing.

My mother was born Feb. 5th so she had a lot of amethyst jewelry. She would have LOVED this. Can't give an age, but it's totally gorgeous.

JMHO, looks like amethyst glass and rhinestones set in gold tone metal. Sweet butterfly pin

Thank you Marie, I think it's pretty too. It's just the clasp that's making me wonder about the age.

Again, JMHO, the clasp looks older but the hinge looks newer. There are companies still making C clasps, plus the fact that it is once piece attached to the back makes me think newer. Old pics have the hinge attached at one end and the clasp at the other, separate pieces soldered in place.

    I'm Feb 24. I don't think this is incredibly old either; I'd guess 1970s. It's definitely costume.

Thank you, I knew it was just costume. I used the word Amethyst to describe the color.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I love it! My birthday is in February, too. Looks like the word "amethyst" is drawing some of us.
