I am really lighting up the board today, LOL:cat:
A real long shot here to try and show what I'm talking about, because I can't get it to show up in pictures :(
Just finished cleaning these earrings that are marked sterling. They were very heavily tarnished, and now that they are cleaner, I am seeing a rose colored tint only to the leaves on the front of them. Any thoughts, pretty please?!

No, any alloy of silver that I know of still looks like silver.

    Could be silver gilt.

I know Coro used to do that on some of their pins/brooches.

Thanks so much Messi, Davey, Sharona and Af :)
I tried to gold test, but it's really hard because the leaf areas are not sticking up enough to get a good sample on the stone. But, from what I was able to do, those areas were testing for 14k. That could be plating though. Rose colored gold plating would make sense, and I didnt think about that. But maybe it is gold, and marked underneath somewhere I can't see it? Would, or could it be marked in 2 different areas?
Sharona thanks for the term bezel set....I didn't know that. I learn so much from you wonderful people.

The bases and the stone settings are probably the sterling, and the leaves gold, rose gold. I have seen combination gold and sterling vintage to Victorian jewelry. Is the word "sterling" stamped only on the bases?

Thank you Susan, much appreciated. :cat: It's stamped on the back of the screw for the clip on.

Victorian revival maybe. That's a 50s design overall. The stones are likely glass; the often were in 50s sterling.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The word for silver covered with gold is vermeil (pronounced ver-may). I don't know whether this qualifies but didn't see that mentioned so thought that I would.
