May have overpaid for this item due to the poor condition but I've never seen one in cardboard/paper. Most of them are in tin and thus more indestructible.

I see some of the damage but it doesn't look too bad to me.
Want to tell us what you paid?

$15. I don't know a whole lot about advertising (other than it's cool and I like it) so I try to be cautious.

Due to the fragile nature of the legs I'm going to find a rigid plastic holder for it. (like the ones used for collectable currency)

I like that portable eating set. Finding the blade, as others have said, wouldn't be easy. OTOH you could get a modern one made the old way. There are Japanese and American artisans still doing it. A replacement blade wouldn't be original anyway, so a good copy might be the next best thing.

Can't tell for sure from the photos. The US made so many helmets by 1946 that they produced no more for 40 years. There were warehouses full of them until then. They were given to countries all over the world as 'military aid'. They generally sell for under $20 here.

June sounds great for either though I've never been to Rome or Venice. :(
Was headed there from Innsbruck July 4th '89 until I was told that there was a bad rainstorm going on so didn't. :(
I LOVED Switzerland. Could've just stayed.
I should go to Naples some day since Mom's side is from there.
