    rps20170101_163651.jpg hi there, ive joined because id like some advice about some chairs i have... im hoping you can help me decided what to do, do i try to recover them? sell them as is? how old are they? is it worth getting someone to reupholster them?

    i also dont know how to tell what wood they are made from... any help would be appreciated :)

    there was some green leather on one of the backs that was original if that helps determine the age?

    i really like them but it is such a huge job just trying to get the upholstery off. looks like they have been reupholstered twice already. there was what seems like horses hair in the cushion which i thought maybe i could save and wash but all this is new to me and i dont know if i am wasting my time... but they are the most comfortabe chairs i have ever sat on and sooooo sturdy and look so well made.

    any help so i could know a bit more about them wiuld be really appreciated.

    im not sure whether that last one is a repair because the wood looks different.

    It was probably covered and so was protected from the air and dirt.

    i think the joining could be a clue, because thet have little wooden dowels in the joins

    Ive also read that saw marks can give a clue for age, here is a piece with saw marks of that helps rps20170101_172146.jpg

    Those look very even and so are probably machine done.
