I've been gifted a collection of 78s .. the date I can see on them is 1940 and was interested to know some more info on them
https://www.ebay.com/b/Records/1769...His%20Master%27s%20Voice&Speed=78%20RPM&rt=nc You could peruse some of these listings on ebay to show you the market, the types of records available, what information the seller knows about their items, etc. Just a place to start.
An internet search will bring up a great deal of information such as this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.M.S._Pinafore https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D'Oyly_Carte_Opera_Company Link above will give you idea of scarcity and value. Playable condition is, of course, critical. Debora
Well, of course, you're right. I just "read" this as a record storage album which, although fairly utilitarian, it isn't. Assume you're referring to something more like this. Debora
yes of course, it's not all the artwork that's in high demand...... but if you have the right one...........YAY !!!
But 78's are kind of early for "art" on the cover, no? If you look at the single example Gemma has posted and assuming it's representative of the entire collection, art on the cover seems unlikely.
From the internet: "In the 1930s, record companies began issuing collections of 78 rpm records by one performer or of one type of music in specially assembled albums, typically with artwork on the front cover and liner notes on the back or inside cover." Debora
