Any chance of finding out who Lt Frazier is or was?

That handle reminds me of a coal scuttle.......but I would think the inside would be severely blackened .......So I'm back to water bucket.
The Cav needed to travel light....so metal buckets would not be ideal.

But why have his name on a bucket ???????

    Hummmmm.....

I guess it could be used for whatever you needed a bucket for....

Sorry! Just got home from taking the grandson to school!

I'll try, but without a first name is may be tough to narrow down. Anyone have an idea about what "TR G" stands for?

Just looking at the canvas and the type of lettering

Doesn't appear to have had much use.

Changed my mind on the time period guess. Sorry.

Did you notice that somehow the "I" rubber stamp or stencil plate got lost and a substitute was used? This is clearly something that was done far from any headquarters where inspections would have made note of this infraction.

Nearly all WWI dog tags I've seen had letters substituting for numbers or verse visa

A terminology question - In doing some searching for a Lt. Frazier in the 6th Cavalry, the US military seems to have used "Company" much more commonly than "Troop." (F Troop not withstanding.) Is a Troop a subdivision of a Company? Or was "Troop" only used out in the wilderness of the west, when their purpose was scout out and round up native Americans?

And what about timing? I was assuming WWI or earlier because of the nice condition. Could this bucket be older?

Troop is used for the cavalry equivalent to a company in the rest of the Army

Okay. I guess I'll change my search criteria to include "Company G" since that seems to be the way they are indexed. Obviously isn't correct, but the online indices only have Company and not Troop for Cavalry units.

My original guess was WWI - WWII
The color of the canvas might be a clue.
WWII canvas was olive green wasn't it?
