I got this little hinged pill box, with unusual design on top. The marks look like tulipish looking flower, 4, and 1000.

    Any idea as to origin?

    Thank you for looking. :)

This hallmark was used here in Italy for plated items only. ARG1000 or just 1000. Now it is forbidden to use it on new items because it was deceiving and many thought it meant pure silver.

You're in Italy? Or did you just copy & paste someone else's words without citation?

flipper, you do a lot of copy & pasting without citing the article or site. That could be considered plagiarism, since the text is not your own. I have noticed a few members getting annoyed at that, because it is seen as deceptive. Frankly I can't blame them, besides, it is simply a matter of good manners to give credit where credit is due.
In some cases you, or Antiquers, could even get into trouble because of intellectual property rights.
So please do the right thing, if you use a text graciously provided by others, copy the url as well.

    Wow!
Quite the response! I usually remember to say excerpt or use quotes, whatever...
I think I was just trying to give her some insight and didn't think about the CONSEQUENCES. I am an educated individual with my own thoughts and feelings. Had I realized someone actually was thinking I was trying to take credit for it...wow.
It was an answer on a blog from one individual to another. That's the depth of it.
Please relax and realize I am flawed like other mortals. Perhaps someone could have pointed it out whenever I may have done it the first time??
Either way, sorry to get everyone riled up. FYI, I am not from the canine family, either. It is my avatar. :phantom:

Oh...and just to answer the most pressing questions...no I do not live in Italy and no, I do not know of any city named Detroit in the country of Italy. I hope that clarifies things for you...and I DO NOT LIKE Ted Nugent...for the record.

Flipper - please understand that I believe your intentions are good, but when you post comments and images without including a corresponding link or at the very least, noting the source of your information (and you do it fairly often, whether you intend to or not), it is frustrating and can be basically useless without being able to put the posts in context.

This one, though seeming to be your statement of personal knowledge, was just so obviously not your words that, after my initial momentary confusion, I felt a need to ask - and yes, as someone who like so many others here and on other venues, has shared the benefit of years of experience, personal research, and reference libraries, finding one's 'original' words (often even a number of full paragraphs), copied and pasted into quite a few places as if belonging to the person answering a question on a forum, or 'writing' a blog, or describing an item for sale, etc., is a bit annoying, and that doesn't even get into the accuracy of the information 'lifted'...

Since the source of the statement has still not been cited, here it is, a 2011 post on the eBay jewelry forum in response to a query about a brooch, no images of item or marks remain:

Who doesn't like a guy that funds a camp for kids? (Oh, I have a suspicion) I'm not keen on hunting but who am I to judge others?

I understand your point. I certainly did not realize it was being interpreted as such. Sometimes the links do not correlate to the pictures I find, and I usually say as much, but this one I was just offering allopapallo's comment to chrisandchris3737 regarding the 1000 mark as a starting point, not thinking anyone would wish to refer to the conversation, but also figuring it was obvious it wasn't me talking...
    Either way, I get it.
As for Ted Nugent, he is just :vomit:, imo. His music is enjoyable. I have seen him and spoken to him and I find him very "annoying". I do not judge people for hunting.
    Okay...................next!

don't bother too much; many that are now artificially outraged do the same and get away with it because they simply g°°gle in other languages than English, then g°°gle-translate it into English and present it at their own "knowledge".
I for my part do use also other searching machines, but use the .ch google which includes automatically the three biggest cultural languages on the continent - German, Italian, French. and I normally link the main article for further research, but am sometimes lazy when I simply write a summary of all articles found.

Several people have, several times, but you always gave the impression you were very hurt by it, so no one did it again. No one ever intended to hurt you, not then, not now.
But since you kept on forgetting to post a link, there inevitably came a time that it was said again. Like the other times, no one intended to hurt you, so please, take your own advice and relax. Take a deep breath and breathe out slowly. Feel the worries and stress of the day... etc etc.:playful:
Feel free to add it to the word of the day thread :hilarious:
