This is at an estate were doing. The homeowner found it in the wall

Anyone know what it is?

 

Some kinda can-opener? Or something-opener?

I do think it looks as if it (prize-no, pries-no, pry-no) prises something.

 

It's pretty hard to tell what it might be from the photo. How big is it and is that a broken spot on it?

It may be nothing more than a wedge to facilitate construction, even destruction, of almost anything. I've used similar tools to drive ship hull plates together as well as separate them. I still have some to use as needed for other projects.

 

It looks like what we would call in Dutch a 'muuranker', which translates literally to 'wall anchor', used to strengthen the construction of a wall.

 

Just a guess - would it work to open paint cans? Or similar cans where one wants to pry on the edge without damaging it?
No actual patent number, I assume.....

8" long, maybe. Im going back tomorrow, Ill double check
