I found this cute little Jadeite Bowl at the Flea Market today. It has a nice translucence to it. I am wishing it is Steuben, but suspecting it is Fenton. Either way I liked it and for $3 I couldn't resist it. It is 5 inches across and 1 inch high. Any help is appreciated! Thank You!

    Hi Digger,
This bowl is Jade colored not jadite. Jadite is translucent or not. It is a wonderful bowl.

I don't know who made it, but I'd call it "jade glass" rather then "jadeite" IMHO, jade glass is a different color, less milky looking, and was made by elegant glass makers like those you mention. Jadeite was the name Anchor Hocking came up for their milky green oven proof glass, which most dealers/collectors have co-oped for oven proof glass of the same color made by Hazel Atlas and others.

Hey Greg! Thanks for the info! I appreciate it! Looked through eBay and did not find any similar. Also looked through pics of Steuben and Fenton and didn't see any small bowls like it.

    Mike -
I've looked at this several times.
Is there any chance you can take a picture of the bottom outside without the light glare?
Also, when you hold it up to the light are there a lot of little air bubbles in it?

I'm asking, because I wonder if it is a piece of Peking glass. I don't think particularly old. Maybe 50s.
Just a guess since you ruled out Fenton, which was my first thought.

    Thanks Mike -
The bottom does not look like Steuben.
Will make a note to look in my Fenton books when I go to the store. The problem will be if I remember to read the note once I get to work.

I could certainly be wrong, but IMHO definitely not Steuben. Every Steuben bowl I've had was blown and had a ground and polished pontil, never a marie.

I concur with Ascot, not Steuben, color's good, but is pressed glass.

Sorry to take so long getting back.
I did look in my Fenton book, but I did not find the jade green. I must have another book around that shows the green. I remember seeing a picture of different pieces. Just can't remember where I saw it.
Will let you know if I find anything.
