150 pounds sounds a bit light for a 9 foot long 2 1/2 inch bore cannon.

    BWIK.

Bingo! There are many other clues in the decoration, text, etc. but the measurements given are by far the most "incriminating." These are almost certainly plaster-filled hollow brass or bronze shells made to look like cannons. The weight listed is probably around 1/5 of what it should be if the item had been a real antique bronze cannon. The sellers must have dropped out of school and missed Physics 101.

I know nothing about this sort of thing, but the declared weight, combined with the Free within USA and Standard Mail shipping options lit up a warning light I wasn't aware was even operational................

Good catch. I guess you can have something stated to be "pre-1750's" and still be in brand new condition, although such items are scarce, like something made back then but never removed from the box.

These are made to look rode hard and put away wet, but don't quite get there.
