Hi Tina. The first set is modern, probably stainless. The knife at the top for either meat or cheese, the flat bladed server for pie or cake (although this shape is also sometimes used for pate) and the fork for meat. Often called a "hostess set."

The tarnished spoons are more interesting, but we'll need a full length picture of the front of one (to see the design) and a picture of any marks (probably on the back.) I suspect the box they're in is not the original, since Henckels specializes in cutlery (as in knives and related sharp bladed items.) Don't think I've ever seen other forms of flatware from them.

By the way, Supreme Cutlery is a tradename used for stainless wares by Towle. These pieces *may* match one of their flatware patterns or may not.

I remember the SUPREME CUTLERY pattern from the 1970s. Knock-off of a TIFFANY pattern. (So chic.)

Here is the Towle pattern that the cutlery set comes from. It is called obviously "Bamboo." It came in a bright finish and a satin finish. I think yours is the bright finish. They are calling your top piece a "Solid Cheese Serving Pick" and middle piece a "Cheese Server, Solid Piece." On the Satin page this server is shown with a triangular blade while the pie and cake servers are shown with 1 side of the blade having a straight edge. To be perfectly frank, it doesn't matter whether you call the middle piece cake, pie or cheese server. Most of us would call it a pie or cake server. Each of the following patterns have 2 pages. Scroll down them to see what replacements.com has. Note in the description at the top of the page it says: "Stnl, Supreme Cut, Jap..." Stainless, Supreme Cutlery, Made in Japan. In the index of the companies name under Supreme Cutlery it says: "Supreme Cut (See Towle)." Looks like this set dates from the 1980s. Several companies back then came up with bamboo patterns.

I certainly agreed with Henckels not making "other forms of flatware." While in the replacements.com website I wandered over to Henckels. To my amazement there were several patterns of flatware other than just cutlery! Nowwww all the patterns there were stainless, no silver. Your spoons are definitely silver with that tarnish. They could be silver plated or sterling. I definitely believe they are not by Henckels, but placed in a Henckels box that once had a set of steak knives. Like Bake said "we'll need a full length picture of the front of one (to see the design) and a picture of any marks (probably on the back.)" THe front will help in IDing the pattern and the back will shown the markings in IDing the maker.

The little spoons are silverplate. Usually marked just SWEDEN, sometimes MADE IN SWEDEN.

Henckels has made a bit of both .800 silver and silverplate over the years, and so far as I know they still produce several patterns in stainless (they also made some beautiful fancy thimbles in solid silver for decades). From what I can see, the spoons are German, a Hildesheimer Rose design, produced by numerous manufacturers in both solid silver and silverplate - but have never seen any by Henckels, of course the backmarks will tell the story (the box appears to be made for some kind of small flatware).

They may well not be silverplate spoons and they're German.

That rose spoon is a very traditional German design, especially in Bavaria. Look closely at them for an 800 mark. I own a few of these.

Google on German Rose spoons, you'll find loads of them. The proper name is the Hildesheim Rose.

Susan - just popped over to Replacements and they actually show more silver than I expected - on the second page, found 5 silver, 6 silverplate, and 2 gold plate; Henckels has produced so many blades for flatware that they're sometimes named as the manufacturer of a pattern, but most of the pieces pictured were spoons or forks, so are likely correct...
