Found this little tin, now just want to understand the background and the date, post WWII?. Seems a little sad that disabled soldiers and sailors need a typewriter ribbon tin to bring their plight to the public' attention.

It was made by disabled WWI veterans in the 30`s.
It was a way of showing they worked for a wage and did not seek charity.
    A little like Remploy nowadays.

Yup, but not as they were. All the factories were closed down, so they now basically act as an employment agency. Caused massive problems for a fair few people I know of. They're now owned by a dodgy US company.

Those decanters are quite a find! Really special.

A couple of months ago it was clear that an estate with great items was donated to a chain TS that I sometimes visit. That particular store is unfortunately far from me and I was only in the area for a short time. One of the things I obtained that visit was this item - a mixed set of vintage and antique flatware. They literally brought it out, I opened it up and never even picked up a piece - I just looked inside and said 'I'll take it'. It was under $30.00.

Approx. 3/4 of this is SP and the rest is sterling. The three serving pieces include two antique Christofle Sterling items. There are antique sterling pieces with marks I've no clue about and haven't yet researched. I've discovered that mixed in with the SP is the odd piece of sterling, I just haven't looked at it all yet.

I did get the full set of antique china from this estate (all pieces, including tureens, etc., 3 boxes full, french (I can't remember the name and it is in the basement). That set is in NM condition for the age and I don't believe I found any chips and it appears hardly used. That was under $50.00. I have wondered if glasses and other items were donated and if so, what they were. Must have been exciting for those pickers! I am always very thankful for what I find. I never complain on my bad days... I just go look at the carp I have to go list that I never seem to!

I got these at my favorite consignment shop on Wednesday. They were consigned earlier that day & I paid less than I would have for just one. :smug::smug::smug:

c.1940 Czechoslovakian cut glass perfume bottles. :D:D:D:D

I got these last night at the Friday night auction. These will join all of their cousins & other assorted relatives in my curio cabinet. Again I paid about half of what I would have spent for any of the double figures.:smuggrin::smuggrin::smuggrin:

Swarovski Silver Crystal Spoonbill Bird, Koalas, Seahorses, Kingfishers & Baby Dolphin. :D:D:D:D

Wow, loving the perfume bottles, girly stuff! Great flatware finds, and Brad, love that cabinet!

I went to a rained-out outdoor show the end of the day.... I did find two little things.

I love this costume ring, the faux ruby tests as spinel, $5

And then I found this MOP faced Jules Jurgensen watch for a dollar..... hope it works when I put a battery in.

I didn't have time to do yard sales or thrifts yesterday but I did stop at one yard sale that was packing up at the end of the day. I bought this for 50 cents, it was almost black. The handle is sterling silver.

Now that's a proper cake cutter. IIRC they were made for angel food; if you use a regular knife it squishes the cake. These are the pieces worth showing from this weekend. I found some scrap gold of enough value to pay for everything, but no more. The gold ones shown are really sterling. The mosaic is probably turquoise in a hallmarked sterling setting. The bracelets are copper. The purple amethyst beads on sterling were a buck, and the beaded Silpada necklace was about 10 cents. The pins are Original by Robert (watermelon) and Mexican sterling and aventurine. The prize may be the King Tut mask pendant; it's MMA from the exhibit and cost about another dollar. The leaf pin is gold plate. DSCF2880smaller.jpg

I am loving me some King Tut!

The other stones in the big honkin' costume ring are probably CZs. No markings. The guy said he sold a ton all day long.

Is that a Black Hills Gold sterling leaf pin? I love their multi-colored gold stuff.

It looks like Black Hills Gold, but it's not marked and the "gold" has worn off parts of the clasp. I'm thinking sterling on a good day.
