Can anyone ID these two... plates?

These 2 were given to us by grandmother 25+ years ago. They've been on a mantelpiece ever since. However no idea what they are - thinking whether to sell them.

Can anyone identify provenance of these (and whether they're worth anything)? Also what is the big (very big - measures just over 2ft across!) plate (plate 2) for?

    Plate 1:

    Any help much appreciated!

Only you can establish provenance. Provenance is establishing ownership and time. Which would have been when your grandmother owned it and then passed it to you.

Both pieces were made in England by Mintons.
1st one looks like it says Beaucat? That would be the pattern name.
2nd says Delft - again the pattern name.

Oh and your second one is probably a Fish Platter.

I think that's Beaufort, Pat. Otherwise, I agree!

Thanks, knew it wasn't "cat" at the end. Just couldn't make it out.

Your first plate, Beaufort, has the registration number for 1903 so it was produced sometime after that. That impressed mark might be 1921.

The other is the Delft pattern and with the Minton crown wreath mark I think would be c1912-1950.

Superb - thanks all. And for correcting my poor English - clearly need to revisit the word “provenance”...
