Good to Meet You

Just found this site and hope that it will be a valuable resource for me in my newest adventure. I recently started working for the Beaumont Heritage Society where we operate two historic homes and the artifacts that go with them. I am preparing our collections to be available on-line for browsing, but there is still so much work to be done. I everyone here seems to be a wealth of information and I may have to put you to the test with some mysteries that I find in the collection. Can't wait to hear from everyone.

When posting pictures, 1MB is the size limit, 10 images per post, and when you upload the files, the very TOP IMAGE lets you click to "post every image FULL SIZE"....MUST DO!!!!! You also will find, most of the 'experts' here would like close ups, several angles, dimensions, and any other information you can provide about the object in question.....that should get you off to a great start!!! Now, please!!!! Start postin'.....we're anxious to see!!!!!! Sounds like you have a DREAM job!!!! And have FUN!!!!!

I volunteered for an Historical Society for a long time. I always LOVED trying to figure out what it was that they had. (Except for the antique TOOLS - and boy, did they have a lot of those! Thankfully, there were a couple of older local farmers who were always on top of that part of the collection!)

Anyway, Chevellet, welcome - and start posting!

Everyone here has been FANTASTIC. I posted a questionable silver & jade bracelet in the jewelry forum yesterday and received some great information. The thing about working in a museum is that you have to know a little about a lot. If I were an expert at anything I would be at the Smithsonian. I am not too humble to turn to a forum like this for suggestions and advice. I will let you know when we get our catalog of items online. Then you can browse what we have and help me if I get anything wrong. Haha.
