Identify wooden cylindrical object Charles phinston?

Is was my late mother in laws. Think the name on the bottom says Charles phinston but no luck on google and have been searching for days now! I think possibly a jewellery box? Any help appreciated

    I thought that but she kept it the bedroom that’s why I thought possibly a jewellery box? Plus it’s a bit stiff so spice would go everywhere lol

    Phinston doesn't appear to be a surname but Plinston is. Lots in Lancashire and Staffordshire.

    Debora I too have had the phinston/plinston debate yet can find nothing about woodwork for either name so perhaps it was the owners name rather than makers?

    My late father in law travelled with the forces so could be from his side of the family. He had roots in Ireland and Scotland but travelled to Singapore and Canada to mention a few lands he or his family could have acquired it. My late mother in law was from wales so could be from anywhere really :-/

    Wolverhampton and Cambridge are also similar distances south of me,yet one of them is even further from you. :D

    @daveydempsey You can see my IP ? Lord , I thought that had cleared up with the medication! lol... My second cousin leaves today from San Francisco back to his home in the UK, hopefully he will not be bringing any bugs along with him !
