    Hi,
Recently won an auction for table and six dining chairs to be picked up. Went to the warehouse but no table/chairs. Rep called hq and said they would shi it. Followed up and was eventually told they would share the cost of shipping because it would cost too much. Their mistake but I share the financial burden. Or have my money refunded with a complimentary ebth gift card. Took the refund and g card. Litigation would've been too lengthy.

    Welcome! :)
I'll go ahead and assume that; "shi it" IS ship it ;) even though the other option is much more amusing. :)

Hey there. I bought from them and the shipping was a disaster! They broke a piece that was supposed to be part of the lot I won, the only piece that I actually wanted, and never let me know about it. I contacted them to see where my item was,and that's when they explained the issue. It took over two weeks to get my items in the first place, and all I got was a few snarky emails and a $10 refund for a Lalique perfume bottle. I tried to explain the value of the auction was based on that bottle and not all the other crap in the auction, but they felt that was not the case and $10 was fair. I would not use that site again. The customer service was awful, shipping over priced and took quite some time to get and I did not feel they were up front and honest. Proceed with caution.

I assume that part of the problem is that they have "franchised" and most of the current operators in "new cities" are new to the entire concept. Not an excuse, just a bit of info for why they are not up to par at some locations...........

I have a bit more of an intimate knowledge of the operation new that I have applied to them for employment!

Thank you for that! But I have two strikes against me before I start. - I can't pass a drug test due to all of the morphine coursing through my system, and since it is illegal to ask a job applicant his age, they just ask me if I went to school with FDR.......................

I would not purchase from them. I have purchased from them in the past, but recently stopped. They have some pretty deceptive practices, and no transparency on social media. they filter their comments, so you never see complaints on their facebook page for example. and they have no way to rate them.
They will advertise a sale in one city and then let you know that the item is not really in that city and you have to pay for shipping instead of picking it up. I think they may have initially had a good plan and good intentions but it has quickly changed.

If the pain meds are prescription and you can provide documentation, the ADA ought to protect you. This sounds like another place to avoid. I can run into trouble on Ebay for a lot less money. :)

My first purchase from them went fine (it was local). Made two more purchases and both went "missing". They finally (after almost 2 months) refunded my money and the second item is still undergoing resolution. Two months is a long time for someone to keep your money when they cannot find your merchandise. I will probably have to dispute this on the credit card. I have not purchased from them since. Nor do I encourage others to do so unless it is a local pick up.

I am writing as a consignor with EBTH. I would be very careful if you have more specialized items within your items that you are looking to part with. My customer service contact was very polite and always was reachable. I had about 6 special items that were not at the major auction house level I was looking to sell as part of the items of my home. I asked for realistic estimates for what they thought they would fetch on EBTH. I know these are only rough estimates and not a guarantee. The estimates were reasonable and I agreed to go ahead. They had a professional packing team which documented every item and did a great job. After the items left is where things began to fall apart. I send more detailed information in to EBTH but it seemed to get lost. The agreed sale date was to be in September, a great month for sales and we had time to address the issue. I was following up on the feature story that was to accompany the auction when I learned that they were posting the Auction during the last week of August, the worst time for sales every, right before the last Summer Holiday. I tried to stop this but it was to late and was told sales would be fine. The auction went live with so many errors in descriptions I couldn't begin to list them here. Major items where not listed as well. I immediately wrote the sales lead who said he would take care of it. Every day of the 7 day sale I had to check and follow up on issues as well as items disappearing. The final day of the sale the auction links went down and I had to inform the sales lead of this. In short I had to police their site every day and thank goodness I did as they seemed unaware. One major item was not listed or only top was shown. I asked repeatedly where it was and was told first that the base was not shipped and wold be listed in a later auction. Then just the top of the piece appeared stating base was damaged and unsellable. It was only then EBTH admitted they damaged the table, beyond unprofessional. As expected because of the poor auction timing, once again never approved by myself or discussed, the auction was a failure and I would have been much better off sending to a local specialist for the sale. i am still trying to finalize selling the final items and just wanting to never hear of EBTH again. Total disorganization with very polite people.

Beyond unprofessional, crooks, unscrupulous practices, not upfront and honest... What should we expect from a venture backed company that pumped in $43 million, dazzled up marketing to the nth and put in green so-called execs to run. Sorry for the founders to have their reputations ruined like this. It is beyond imaginable the level of fraud investors will stoop to to earn a buck. I am only fortunate that I found them out before more damage was done by purchasing through them. If one must bid or sell w them I would exercise extreme caution. There are way too many other options for auctioning to deal with the likes of this level of fraud. Lastly, you should advise Merchant services of the credit card you used so the credit companies are aware of their breech of Merchant Agreements in their fraud.

Also, they show up w being listed on the BBB. The BBB rules obligates them to make a good faith attempt to work w consumers.

As I consignor, I can see how you could be damaged more than a single buyer if your estate was large and included very valuable items. At any rate it is misrepresentation and I would report to a consumer agency in the state where the auctioneer is registered as well as the association that qualifies auctioneers. As a auction mediation company, there must be regulation in that role also. If you are able to get satisfaction w a complaint regarding ethics and protocol against the auctioneer, no legitimate auctioneers will work w EBTH.

Ordered two items--one broke before delivery, the other arrived shattered. They might be fine, but their shipping is shoddy and unprofessional.
