I buy and sell a lot and I think something like this would go for about 200.00. Big items are hard to sell right now. If you find someone that has to have it I feel 200.00 is a good price. As I mentioned in another post I left for one of your other items this would need to be painted so that it looks shabby chic. this painted with a few coats, one red coat then turquoise over that, then distressed so the red comes through then sell it as farmhouse chic would allow you to get maybe 400.00

Not my area of expertise but $200 sounds a bit low and I think this piece would realize more than that even at auction.

Painting this piece would be a crime. Some things you just don't do - screw the money.

Ok maybe at auction a lot more, maybe less. I attend auctions frequently and see things like this go consistently for 50-200, its a big item with no name to it. people shouldn't get emotionally attached to this stuff they are going to sell. Somebody made a comment earlier that said "painting it would be a crime, screw the money"... I agree it is a nice piece of furniture, but if adding paint to it and changing it up a bit yields more money, then do it. If it doesn't sell and sits in your garage for a year, then you lower the price because you just want it out and need the space and it goes for 100.00... that's not good. and if you are wondering, I'm in northern CA

I don't necessarily disagree with anything Chance has to say here. $200.00 would be a decent wholesale price for a quick sale. I also think that painting it would yield a higher return right now but what a shame that would be. That said, I think there is more money to be had out of this piece in this condition with a little patience. The OP is in Seattle which is a big enough city to be able to find the right buyer.

Yeah I am trying to move this stuff quickly because we need to sell our mother's house ASAP and we don't have a place to store this stuff. I personally don't have emotional attachment to it but my sister does and we have to work together because we are both executors of the estate so it's a bit of a tricky situation. I have relayed the info you guys have been giving me. I really appreciate it, it's very helpful.

Amanda - OP is shorthand for "original poster" - in this case, you!

I dont mean to butt in, or is it but in, or is it button? I dont know, I know its none of my business but what I would do in this situation if she thinks its worth that much and she is that attached to it then have her buy you out of it for half of what she thinks it worth, then she can store it at her place. My thinking is if she thinks its worth more and you cant sell it because of her high price tag then she should be left in charge of it. Or have her store it, once it doesnt move, her price will drop, then it will be less about personal attachment and more about getting the space back. its really not worth family arguing about, people stay mad at each other for years and thats a waste of time.

Yes if it comes to that I will propose that. She is taking quite a few pieces already, my mom had twice as much stuff as I posted.

Honestly, I would stage on as solid white wall or a light gray to dark gray wall if you have it and put a $450 price tag on it to see what kind response you get.

Its not going to hurt to hear what the bulk buyer offers, you can always politely say, thanks its something Ill consider and will give you a call back.
If they try and tell you take it or leave it now, move on. There are a ton of people out there. Call them and fish around.
Dont be afraid to call a local antique auction or two and see if theyd buy it out or pick it up on commission if you feel like its getting down to the wire.

    Its a beautiful piece!
