    Hi All
I have a question..Pablo Picasso is known to have created a huge works of art as summarised in this link
    http://www.picassomio.com/art-artic...orks-did-picasso-create-in-his-life-time.html

And there exists an authoritative catalogue done in collobration with him at least for the painting and drawings (numbering 16 000) called Zervos. My question is how many and which of his works (including paintings, drawings print and sculpture and ceramics) location is accurately known? If not is there a way to know "unknown location" art works of Picasso? I know a database for stolen arts exists. But what about those arts not stolen but somehow are missing in their location.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks..

Through catastrophes, natural and man-made, a lot of stuff is lost. A lot more gets lost because people don't know what it is and/or don't like it, so it just gets tossed. Some is hidden for this reason or that, never to be found again. Some is in private hands and uncataloged because it's unrecognized, or for security reasons.

There were instances when Picasso and Braque, looking back at their analytical cubism works, could not tell their own work from the other's.

And I heard an account where Picasso was shown a faked piece attributed to him, and he not only recalled painting the work, but also remembered making love to the model.

It's not just Picasso - it's all art. There are so-called "free ports" that have vast warehouses stuffed with art. Some of it is just waiting to appreciate in value, some of it hidden for tax purposes or to avoid being inventoried for divorce or other legal proceedings. There are people who hide art as they hide money in off shore accounts. Some hidden in case of political flight or exile. Lots of reasons.
