Some type of glass no idea? 5 inches long 1 inch wide.

    Could it have been a stopper for a gigantic jug or carboy?

    It certainly is a phallic looking thing... that could lead to some ribald speculation, with all due respect.

    Maybe, but sure has the traditional look of a stopper. Maybe a muddler/stopper!:)

    tho' stoppers are often ground on the vertical stopper surface to fit and often numbered...

    Yes I agree, often but not always. A few of my decanter's have regular glass stoppers albeit not as tall but close.

    Looks like a stopper for a decanter to me - Mom was given a new set in the '80s, similar to the one linked below, the decanter was broken long ago, and seem to recall the glasses were put in a garage sale, but the stopper is probably still somewhere in her house. Believe it got knocked over because the stopper made it a bit top-heavy, the decanter was fairly light and not particularly good quality glass, but seem to recall it was Czech...
