The is a faint 925 on this pin. What do you think the green is, stone or glass?

    Thank you for looking! :)

I think it's too out of focus to be sure. Malachite, dyed agate & glass are all possible.

I see nothing that appears to be malachite.

I forgot to do the cold test.
It was cold at first, but warmed quickly, when I touched it to my face.

I don't think it's vivid enough or banded for malachite. Possibly dyed agate. Not a skean dubh or kilt pin shape.

Kilt pins usually use Scottish agate and local stones - maybe this piece isn't Scottish, just Scottish style? Old agate jewels are often unmarked ..would Scottish silver be marked 925? I don't think so but I could be off on that

It's not really Scottish in style, even. Pretty, but marcasites would be all wron.

@i need help We really need to see the stone in stronger light. Don't worry if the metal is overlit.

What obb means is that the style is not Scottish. The use of marcasites points to a different, non-Scottish origin.
The shape is not of a dirk, more like a basket-hilted claymore, but just not right. Similar basket-hilted swords were used in Continental Europe.
Sabre, sword and dagger jewellery was very popular during certain periods of Western jewellery history.
I don't really see malachite either, maybe a dyed agate, or glass, as you considered. Is the stone slightly translucent when you look at it from the side?

What a fun little piece! I think it isn't right for Scottish either. But it sure is sweet. What is the material under the "top"... the round part where the marcasites are?

It rules out malachite, but some agate can be translucent too. (Why don't stones carry an id card :banghead:)
