    Hello everyone!

My name is Lorraine and I’m 47 years young ;0) I love antiques but I’m just an amateur and just rummage around charity shops. I have over the many years bought furniture that is also antique and love the mixture of modern and old mixed together. I love also going to sales rooms and some shops if they are not over priced.
I am happy go lucky and just love life as a single mum of one child. I have a Great sense of humour and I have a love of music festivals which goes great with my eclectic taste in music.
I’m lucky to be from a very old and beautiful City called Chester in England which has the only double decker shops called The rows and nearly full roman walls that go around the city, you should google it. I love history and architecture.... Chester is very close to Liverpool which my whole family are from and I’m sure their was a band that didn’t do very well called The Beatles! Haha!
Well that’s about it from me. Hope I’ve not sent you to sleep with my newbie introduction of myself

    Hi, Lorraine, and welcome!

I live in New Hampshire in the US, but I've actually been to Chester several times, and if I may say so, it is a LOVELY place!

My husband is an historian, and Roman Walls simply call to him. I've trekked them with him all over the UK, and even helped pull him out of the clay muck when he's slipped into it...

I haven't been to the UK in a few years now, and due to health issues, I may not be returning any time soon, but I truly do love it there.

I hope you'll stick around here at Antiquers & post some of your "special stuff" for all to see!

Ahhhh thankyou SBSVC, I love all things like that so I’m very lucky that I am around it all of the time, Christmas is just magical!!
I am an ex army wife so I was away from Chester for 20 years so it really makes you take in your surroundings.
I’ve not been to the US but I’ve always wanted to go! I think I will wait for my off spring to become older before I do. Is New Hampshire like sort of a New England sort of place? I love that America have so many English city names :0)

I have always wanted to find a site like this because I love little finds in charity shops and also want more knowledge on things because I’m a novice:0)

Oh, DEFINITELY, Lorraine! I wasn't born here (tho I AM a New Englander...) and I've only been here for 5 or 6 years, but I live in one of those "old" towns with all the old churches, etc, etc. My town is also a bit unusual, in that it has a large arts colony and a lot of cultural opportunities.

As for town names, yep - they all seem to come from the UK! It's almost as if the original US settlers had no imaginations! I grew up in FAIRFIELD County (Connecticut), close to a town called DANBURY, near GREENWICH... I spent 19 years in a town whose nearby neighbors were SHEFFIELD and GREAT BARRINGTON, in the BERKSHIRES. I now live in PETERBOROUGH, near towns called DUBLIN and WILTON and NEW IPSWICH.

    As I said, no imagination!
