I just purchased this piece and I have no idea what it’s purpose might have been I’m thinking possibly a type of sideboard. I am pretty sure the doors have been replaced but maybe not, the wood appears to be not the best quality so thinking possible post war era. Any info is greatly appreciated! Hi, AMR, and WELCOME to ANTIQUERS!! @komokwa just beat me to asking the questions above!!!! So you'll be posting more pictures and information..........! Just as a wild guess, kind of looks to me like it could be Scandinavian, but I've been miles off in my 'guesses' before!!:smug: Interesting piece, though!!

Thanks for the replies! I will post more pics tomorrow for sure. I am in British Columbia Canada. So it could have really come from anywhere.

Looks like a 1930s china hutch.

Agree, a dining room buffet/hutch. Think a tad later to the 40s, on in to the 50s. The doors have definitely been replaced. A great candidate for paint.

Yeah, what Brad & Cluttered said, way out of my area of interest.

Looks typically late 1940s to me, probably British - we were exporting like mad then. Interestingly, the export stuff was less good to my eye than the Utility Furniture which was all you were allowed to buy in the UK. Less well made, too.

Sideboard, anyhow. Oak. Handles replaced in the late 50s/early 60s, these usually had wooden ones.

Agreed! Hope to leave some wood and add paint too.

Are you thinking the bottom doors were replaced? Can you show hinges/innards?

Added the few requested photos. It Is definitely cheaply built which does lead me to believe it was depression era.

Depression is late 1920s into early 30s, this is 40s. Photos are a bit small!
