    Hi,
I picked this up today - needs to be re-wired, missing a fin on the tail. Do you think this is a shop class piece? I've had airplane lamps before and have never seen one like this nor can I find any now.
    The plane is 9"L x 13" wingspan.
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Thanks for looking.

    Thanks komokwa!
Yes, maybe they are knobs. I like how the blades turn - I'm easily amused.

Those notches on the lower edges (both side, front aft and mid-ships) make me wonder whether this was made from an otherwise complete model, perhaps one that was damaged somehow. Might also explain the missing cross fin on the tail.

I agree @Bakersgma, Looks like an older metal model (hence the pre cut for the tail cross fin) that was made into a lamp. Looks to me someone took off the bottom of the plane (hence the notched areas that I would guess the bottom half fit into) and installed a newer lighting system!!

Thanks bakers and rayo! I wonder if this might have been a toy/model plane that was turned into a lamp, and yes, missing the bottom piece.

    Hi KoT,
Was not the plane referred to as the Spruce Goose? I never heard the term Birch Goose.

    Yes it was and is....
But it's made mostly of Birch. Don't think there's a fiber of Spruce in it.
