What are these silver plated items?

I thought they were votive candle holders (because a votive fits in them), and that may be what they are, but I can't find anything similar. No marks found either, and I assume they are silverplate.
About 1 1/4" high (with lid closed).

It says it is 1 1/2" diameter. Mine are about 2 3/4" diameter, and there is no snap to close them. I have 5 of them.

I think Messi's ashtray idea was correct except that these were "individual" ones for the dining table, rather than the kind a lady could carry in her purse.

 

They are for votives, perhaps for travel. I have the same set of 3 and they came with the votives. I've never used them. I think they were from Pottery Barn or one that kind of store. They are silver plated.

My niece got me a set for traveling. Really? Like, I'm going to be in a hotel room and light candles? If I'm traveling, by the time I hit the hotel room, I'm practically asleep before my head hits the pillow and I won't be leaving candles burning all night.

I have the same two baskets - from the division of the family stuff last year - didn't know anything about them except that I liked them.

 

The Susans to the rescue! I would never have thought such a thing existed and obviously withdraw my individual ashtray idea.
